Even after the pop stars death, Michael Jackson is once again, a topic for public reckoning. This week, HBO’s “Leaving Neverland” revisited graphic sex abuse accusations by James Safechuck and Wade Robson who stated that the singer molested them as boys.
The release of this film has prompted both fans and foes to debate on the legacy of the pop-star. A majority who are supporters have blatantly proclaimed the innocence of the pop-star stating that the result of the hearing in 2005 was beyond a reasonable doubt the right call using different campaign methods to prove his innocence including twitter.
Deceased star Michael Jackson was one of the highest paid in the year 2018 racking up about $400 million. Some might tag this hilarious because of the state of the pop-star and the fact that nothing new can and will be released, others might ask, what are others doing?
So far, irrespective of the supposed impact of “Leaving Neverland” on the legacy of Jackson, majority of his deals and license’s ranging from Sony Music/Epic Records to Sony/ATV are still very much intact with his entertainment attorney tagging it unimaginable from a business perspective for any of them to drop the deals with Michael.
We have so far seen that a majority of the Legacy of the popstar seem unaffected, but one part of the pop-stars legacy which seems to be affected is the “Neverland Ranch” which was the property named in the film title. Before now, the Neverland Ranch was up for sale with a price tag $100 million.
Anyone can understand the reason for the decline of the property as buying a property tied to any controversy can lead to a decline in value and possibly tagged a wasteful investment. And within three years it has fallen to $31 million and probably less as time goes by.
It’s no doubt that Jackson’s legacy is one of a kind, but the fact is that his legacy could be further damaged if any more accusers come forward.
Allegations or not, Michael Jackson, is one of the greatest and forever would be.
